Home Viewing Instructions for Sustainable Action Day Broadcasts:

Currently our Sustainable Action Day network is being handled through a website and service called www.Livestream.com

  • Our main Global station is hosted here on Sustainable Action Day!
  • All viewers will need to download the latest version of Flash Player right below.
  • Adobe Flash

In addition, we suggest you use Firefox browser to play and load all content correctly.
  • Thanks for using Firefox.  Don't miss the upgrade.  Download Firefox 3.5!
  • Anyone who wants to live stream video properly you probably need at least a 2.5 GHz processor and at least 1 - 2 gigs of ram, and maybe a good video card with on board processing.
  • You must also have a high speed (DSL speed) connection of around 256 kbps, or more, for steady streaming.
  • People who have weaker systems can usually view at least 1 station at a time relatively stably if they don't open anything else in their browser at the same time. And if its just 1 station, Windows Explorer does work. Firefox browser is the best download it here.

Dedicated Community Coordinator's Instructions (for organizers who are serious about implementing Sustainable Action Day in your own community.   This will sometimes involve planning and administering small and large events internationally):

  • Thoroughly read ALL of the information contained in this website.
  • Volunteer to develop concrete local plans by registering and contacting the Founder Zion Estes to stay in regular contact so we can provide you with our latest developments.
  • Sometimes we will hold events and broadcasts and we are happy to share with you detailed information and production templates if you wish to hold Sustainable Action Day events and or broadcasts in your own community.
  • Be aware that this is strictly a cooperative network and there are no monies and or funding available yet for any projects.
  • All projects are out of pocket provided by our network of volunteers.
  • For proposed venues, OR if a venue has already been proposed in your area, contact existing organizers listed under CONTACTS.
  • Develop a budget for expenses and revenues. Be sure to include permits, insurance, police/security, etc.
  • Identify your resources, human, financial and otherwise. Develop a supportive team and delegate tasks.
  • Assess your financial needs and consider all fund-raising options including: gaining local donors, sponsors, co-sponsors, event exhibitors, advertisers, and benefiting organizations that will ask members for donations.
  • Always turn in a request or proposal when you need any assistance or endorsement from Sustainable Action Day or Sustainable Action Coalition.
  • Determine the size of your proposed gathering and likely venues available for the size of your planned event. Large event organizers should gain local political support for this project.
  • Secure the necessary stage and sound equipment.
  • Secure commitments from performing artists and environmental speakers.
  • Secure the sponsorship of video projection company to receive and broadcast live feeds if needed and desired for your venue.
  • Secure the sponsorship/contributions from local vendors (food and misc. refreshments, artisans, massage, local health and other professionals.) Fees and suggested donations for booths and tents can help pay for miscellaneous expenses.
  • Again always clearly describe your proposals and requests as far as assistance, technical support and or endorsements.
  • If you have funding and or sponsors we are capable of assisting with designing major infrastructure and designing for any type of events or broadcasts.
  • Advance ideas of how we may best continue the Sustainable Action Day momentum AFTER all events and or campaigns.
  • ALWAYS REMEMBER: You can only do your best, and your best will suffice. Your event and campaign can be successful if you simply implement the fore mentioned activities with continued hard work, networking, direction, proper resources, and good content to attract the right people.
  • ALWAYS STAY POSITIVE and HAVE HOPE. . . . This movement could become bigger than we could ever imagine.
  • Let’s concentrate on making this idea a reality...

Instruction for the Technical Coordinators (technical teams working with venue coordinators need):

General Members and Users Can Launch Your Own Livestream Station...

Advanced and more dedicated users will be allowed to sometimes use and stream through our Global Sustainable Action Day station but there will be qualifications and evaluation involved.    Requests will be reviewed and answered.

Serious Sustainable Action Day members keep in mind you may want to launch a Livestream channel that states Sustainable Action Day and then the name your city, community of town depending on the scale of your vision.

Example: SustainableActionDayHawaii

This will help you also get promotion, placement, and more recognition in the global campaign.

General Professional Recommendations Are:

  • always use one or more HDV cameras,
  • a quality laptop or portable computer dual core processor with 2 gigs of ram
  • a high speed Internet connection
  • If you want to engage in switching cameras then check out Wirecast it’s cool and easy to use.
  • Buy Wirecast here for Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Plug-in your camera. Prepare your shots. Broadcast live.
Wirecast is a live production tool that allows everyone to easily broadcast live events and create professional web-casts from any location – all you need is a computer and an internet connection. With the intuitive and fully integrated streaming capabilities, Wirecast makes it easy for anyone to share live experiences and build a global community. Wirecast lets you stream multiple live cameras while dynamically mixing in other media such as movies, images, sounds, etc. Features including Chroma Key (blue/green screen), transitions and built-in titles allow you to create beautiful, professional broadcast productions for live or on-demand distribution on the web.

  • You can use, initially, your laptop or PC camera to test your broadcasting system.
  • The Technical Coordinator should spend approximately a week learning how to use the Mogulus/Livestream broadcasting studio. This free service operates independently from Sustainable Action Day and is available now from www.livestream.com.
  • It generally takes about a week to develop and test your Livestream broadcasting studio so that you will be ready to "Go Live" for testing two weeks prior to any events.
  •  Beyond serving humanity by assisting the Sustainable Action Day movement, you will end up with your own Internet broadcasting channel that you can use 24/7 to stream your own "On Demand Videos" and "Live Internet Broadcasts" with our training all for free.   In exchange all we ask is that you allow us to host your videos and share them with the World to cause further inspiration to others.
  • If your video has high ratings then we also request to use them for Sustainable Action events, commercials, and campaigns.
  • THE MOST IMPORTANT THING you must keep in mind is that YOU WILL NEED TO SECURE A HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION to work effectively with Livestream for your streaming video coverage of Sustainable Action Day local activities. If you do not do this, you will end up frustrated and disappointed by your video stream crashing.
  • After you get your Livestream Studio set up, and you begin to load your YouTube clips into your first storyboard for testing and broadcasting, please consider Sustainable Action Day's theme and the anticipated audience. Seek clips that complement Sustainable Action Day, your associated content, your message, and most of all the audience. Remember, you are on your own. There is no one in here in Sustainable Action Day going to tell you what you can and cannot broadcast. So use your highest professional discretion when selecting your clips and live programming.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING YOUR LIVESTREAM APPLICATION: If you like the service and would like to have unlimited viewer capability then Livestream.com simply requires you to have uploaded enough YouTube clips into your "Library" to place in your "Storyboard" to recognize your legitimate broadcasting capability. With nothing to broadcast, no clips in your Library or Storyboard, they have no reason to seriously consider your application.
  • It must also be original and shot by you or your team otherwise the footage you use you must be able to verify that you have permission.
  • These are all requirements if you want to have unlimited viewer potential because in the beginning when you first launch your station the limit is set at 50 viewers.
  • Don't get discouraged, because if you don't care to have unlimited viewers simply select your favorite YouTube clips THAT REFLECT THE MISSION AND THEME OF Sustainable Action Day!
  • As we all grow together hopefully by having good teams and quality content we can eventually receive sponsors to help pay for events, campaigns, and custom HD channels and bandwidth for a larger broadcast.
  • Please contact Sustainable Action Day Founder and Technical Director Zion Estes for more information through our contact form. We can use Skype for online conferencing and communication.
  •  Skype can be used for any type of coordination and events around the World.
  • WARNING: IF YOU DECIDE TO USE SKYPE, or any other online service, DURING YOUR LIVESTREAM BROADCAST, YOU WILL BE USING MORE BANDWIDTH AND MAY CRASH YOUR VIDEO STREAM. So be sure to TEST, TEST & TEST.
